'I Had to Get Out': Massive Blaze at Fairfield Inn & Suites Forces Guests to Find a New Place to Stay
Lincoln Fire & Rescue said about 10 guests were staying at the hotel when crews battled the blaze.
A two-alarm fire destroyed the Fairfield Inn & Suites at 4221 Industrial Ave in north Lincoln on Monday, June 15, 2026, causing the roof to collapse and rendering the building a total loss.
LFR Battalion Chief Jim Bopp said crews arrived shortly before 7 p.m. to find flames spreading up the building's exterior into the attic, prompting firefighters to switch from offensive to defensive tactics.
Guests evacuated safely, though witness Case reported significant damage to personal property. "Plywood and roofing material came raining down on the hood and windshield of my rental car," Case said.
No injuries were reported, though LFR confirmed the hotel and all guest belongings are a total loss. Investigators are still working to determine the fire's exact origin.
Displaced guests are seeking alternate accommodations while LFR resources remain stretched; two other fires had occurred in Lincoln earlier that Monday, further taxing emergency response capacity.
