LETTER: Oak Bay needs to put an end to gas-powered leaf blowers

On May 24, 2022, Oak Bay council unanimously passed the motion “That the District of Oak Bay adopt a plan to phase out, over a three-year period, the use of gas-powered garden equipment, including leaf blowers on all residential properties in Oak Bay beginning in 2023.” This was partly in response to a petition, organized by Francis Landy and with more than 600 signatures, urging a ban on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers.
