Letter: A disappointing irony on day celebrating King

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day our mail was not delivered and banks, schools and government offices were closed; but our trash and recycling were collected as they normally are on Mondays. Most holidays that fall on Monday are an exception. The irony is that King was in Memphis, Tenn., in 1968 when he was assassinated, there to speak out for the rights of sanitation workers who were peacefully protesting for fair wages and the right to unionize. …
