On Jan. 12, 2021, at 8:04 a.m., 8-year retired NFL veteran Timothy Lee Lester passed away at home of a pulmonary embolism due to COVID-19. The night before he died, he relayed one of his final wishes to his family. Despite the illness, he got on a FaceTime call to say he wanted his two sons, eighth grader Timothy Jr. and seventh grader Tristan, to transfer and play football for Milton High School.
