In 2027, the BMW plant in Leipzig has its own direct connection to the hydrogen grid. As the company announced, it is the world's first automotive location with direct H2 connection.
Several projects for the use and production of green hydrogen have failed in central Germany. But now there is a bright light: the Leipzig BMW plant will be connected to the future nationwide hydrogen core network.
BMW's approach to hydrogen is strong and plans pass not only by cars, as well as by infrastructures. It will build a pipeline link in the Leipzig factory - something unprecedented at the world level. According to the manufacturer's communiqué, the link will extend about two kilometres.
