Football fans angry at sponsor's link to porn actress
The move drew anger from supporters, who said the gambling sponsor’s link to adult content clashes with Leicester City’s family-oriented image.
On Tuesday, Leicester City's shirt sponsor BC Game appointed Russian adult content creator Eva Elfie as brand ambassador. The online gambling company posted a video on social media announcing the partnership with the creator, known as an "international porn star."
Since the 2024/25 season, Leicester City has faced mounting criticism over the partnership with the unlicensed gambling firm. Fans previously expressed that having a betting website on shirts felt like abandoning the club's "well run family club" reputation.
The Foxes Trust condemned the appointment in a statement titled "BC Game- It gets worse," citing that 73% of fans felt negative about the relationship. The group stated gambling and pornography could have "devastating impacts" on young people.
Critics argue the partnership links Leicester City to adult content while BC Game remains unlicensed to operate in the UK. The fan body urged supporters to purchase replica shirts without the sponsor's logo.
Currently sitting 10th in League One after 13 matches, the East Midlands club navigates a challenging period following back-to-back relegations from the Premier League since the sponsorship began in 2024. The team has won five, lost four and drawn four.
