Jonathan Turley Says Post-Election ‘Buyer’s Remorse’ Is Coming

Summary
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley predicted on Wednesday that “buyer’s remorse” was inevitable after Tuesday’s midterm sweep for Democrats.Turley told Fox News host Sean Hannity that members of the far-left wing of the Democrat Party had been given outsized influence over the rest of the party and in Congress, saying that he believed they would take the power afforded them and use it to overstep.“I think that people are gonna realize they didn’t offer any actual, constructive ideas about how to improve the economy,” Turley began. “The economy is actually doing very well. Gasoline prices have really proven to be horrendous for this election, but the Democrats don’t have much to offer here.”“The DSA is driving this train so far, and what Schumer and Jeffries are going to find out is that that wing is going to have oversized power in the coming Congress,” Turley continued. “And so I think this is going to be a bit of a train wreck.

They don’t have the votes to move these reforms, and that’s the reason they’re going to turn to investigations and impeachments,” he explained.Indeed, the votes had not even all been counted before some Democrats let the mask slip. Several — including a few who will likely chair powerful committees once the new Congress is seated in January — were already threatening to start issuing subpoenas.Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) posted just two words: “LAWYER UP.”Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who is poised to take control of the House Judiciary Committee in January, told MS NOW’s Nicolle Wallace that he would “not hesitate to go after” anyone who had “collaborated with” President Donald Trump. As Turley noted, a vast majority of Democrat candidates ran on platforms that focused on ending the Iran war, lowering gas prices, and addressing the overall affordability crisis affecting many American families. They have yet to explain how investigations — and, as Turley suggested, possible impeachments — would aid them in addressing the kitchen table issues that propelled their campaigns.
