Lebanon army begins taking over southern ‘pilot zones’: U.S.
The move tests whether Lebanese forces can secure the area and verify the removal of Hezbollah weapons before any Israeli pullback.

- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun discussed this implementation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a Sunday visit to Washington. Rubio emphasized that full Lebanese sovereignty requires decisions from Lebanon's own institutions.
- Hezbollah has rejected the framework, insisting it be linked to wider negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Israeli officials vowed their forces will maintain a 10km "security zone" along the frontier as long as the group remains armed.
