Lauryn Hill Tribute at BET Awards 2026 From Her Kids Selah, YG & Zion Marley Is the Most Joyful Thing
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, music icon Lauryn Hill received the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award at the BET Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Hill rose to global stardom in 1996 as a member of the Fugees before her seminal 1998 solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, established her as a Grammy-winning artist who redefined hip-hop.
A star-studded tribute featured artists including Lizzo, Nas, and Queen Latifah performing her classic hits, while Hill's children Selah, YG, and Zion Marley joined the onstage celebration.
During her acceptance speech, Hill urged younger artists to embrace their unique gifts, stating, "I do this because I want you to have everything that I experienced."
