Large-scale EBT card skimming operation made purchases at ShopRite, Wawa, Target

A group that created fraudulent electronic benefits cards then made purchases at a variety of ShopRite, Wawa, Target and other stores both in New Jersey and out of state, authorities allege. The 10 people tested the phony cards by making small purchases to confirm the PIN numbers worked before later buying cases of energy drinks — such as Red Bull and Monster — and baby formula, according to an affidavit of complaint outlining a slew of charges.
