Lance Bass Reveals He Was Paid $35 a Day in *NSYNC
Bass says *NSYNC members got a $35 daily per diem and a $10,000 check after years while label and management kept most profits.
On Thursday, October 8, singer Lance Bass claimed on The Zach Sang Show that *NSYNC members received only a $35 daily per diem during the band's peak commercial success, rather than substantial earnings reflecting their global popularity.
Bass alleged that the band's record label and late manager Lou Pearlman "made a f-ton" while the group performed without meaningful pay for two or three years before receiving their first $10,000 check.
While merchandise sales were "insane," Bass noted he did not earn significant money from the group's success; current residuals from the band are "not much" compared to his post-hiatus career.
Asked if he still carries resentment, Bass said "not anymore," though he maintained the group was shortchanged, emphasizing his pride in his independent career after the band's 2002 hiatus.
Financial disclosures from other actors reveal similar early-career disparities: filmmaker Nick Castle earned $25 per day for the 1978 film Halloween, while actor Jonah Hill received $60,000 for 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street.
