Lakers expected to sign Raptors 3-point specialist and 76ers guard in NBA free agency
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers secured free agent Quentin Grimes on a four-year, $60 million contract with a fourth-year player option, according to ESPN.
Ahead of free agency, the Lakers declined Nick Smith Jr.'s $2.5 million team option, while Deandre Ayton exercised his $8.1 million player option and Marcus Smart declined his $5.4 million option.
Toronto Raptors forward-center Sandro Mamukelashvili declined his $2.8 million player option and has emerged as a potential value target, posting 52.3% shooting from the field last season.
Brooklyn Nets forward Ziaire Williams is also on the Lakers' radar after Brooklyn declined his $6.25 million team option; at 24 years old, Williams offers the athleticism and length the team prioritizes.
General Manager Rob Pelinka aims to strengthen the roster to complement stars Doncic and Reaves as the Lakers prepare for one of their busiest offseasons following the opening of free agency.
