The photo, taken in 1944 by Robert Capa, became the symbol of the savage cleansing that took place during the Liberation. Historians have retraced in detail the career of its protagonist, Simone Touseau, a notorious pronazie. However, Julie Héraclès' first novel, to be published at the end of August, delivers a freely inspired version of the character, who becomes a circumstantial collaborator, driven by a simple spirit of social revenge.
