Kraft Heinz sells off coffee part of business
On Wednesday, Kraft Heinz announced it will sell its North American coffee business to private equity firm One Rock Capital Partners for $650 million, while retaining a 30% non-controlling equity stake.
CEO Steve Cahillane, who took over in January, is sharpening the company's focus on core packaged food and condiments after pausing a planned split into two separate businesses.
The deal includes Maxwell House, Gevalia, Ethical Bean, Sanka, Nabob, Yuban, and Tassimo brands, plus roughly 250 employees and manufacturing facilities in Jacksonville, Fla., and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Kraft Heinz expects approximately $500 million in net cash proceeds after taxes to pay down debt, as third-quarter net sales fell 2% to $6.12 billion.
The transaction is expected to close in mid-2027, with One Rock managing partner Tony W. Lee committing to accelerate investment across the coffee brand portfolio for growth and innovation.
Kraft Heinz raised its sales projection for the year and stated that its recovery plan is gaining strength. Exclusive material for subscribers. To have full access, access the link of the material and make your registration.
