On Saturday in Graz, KPÖ Steiermark elected state deputy Alexander Melinz as the new state chairman with 97 percent of the members' votes at the party congress. He takes over this role from city councillor Robert Krotzer, who had taken over the presidency of Claudia Klimt-Weithaler as interim chairman two years ago. "The KPÖ is committed both to local politics and to the preservation of social-state achievements at the state level," said Melinz.

On Saturday, the Styrian Communist Party (KPÖ) is setting the course for new people: At the state party congress, the Communists, who are represented in the state parliament with two deputies, elect the state party president: the new KPÖ frontman is to be Alexander Melinz.
