Christine Drazan wins Oregon GOP primary for governor, setting up rematch with Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek
Drazan led a crowded GOP field with 43% of the vote and will face Gov. Tina Kotek again after losing by less than 4 points in 2022.
On Tuesday, State Sen. Christine Drazan won the Republican nomination for Oregon governor, NBC News projects, setting up a rematch against incumbent Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek in November.
Drazan previously challenged Kotek in 2022, losing by less than 4 points in a state that has not elected a Republican governor in 40 years.
Emerging from a field of 14 candidates, Drazan led the primary with 44.5% of the vote, while State Rep. Ed Diehl followed with nearly 31% and Chris Dudley with 16%.
The Cook Political Report rates the seat "solid Democrat," though Drazan aims to "restore our state" during the November general election.
Running for reelection, Kotek pitched the race as a choice between protecting current values or shifting toward an administration that will "stand up to President Trump's chaos.
