Manchester United Announce Second Goalkeeper Signing of the Summer
The 20-year-old Wales under-21 international joins United’s academy after keeping 10 clean sheets in 34 games on loan at Connah’s Quay Nomads.
On Monday, Manchester United completed the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Kit Margetson on a free transfer from Swansea City, bringing the Wales Under-21 international to Old Trafford.
After five years in the Swansea academy, Margetson departed on a free transfer, entitling Swansea to a compensation fee for his development since joining at under-15 level.
During his loan spell at Connah's Quay Nomads, Margetson kept 10 clean sheets in 34 appearances, impressing scouts; commentator Mark Allen said, 'He's competent in what he's doing.'
The goalkeeper will initially join United's U21 team, while goalkeeper union changes loom as Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek are reportedly set to leave the club.
Manchester United's respected goalkeeping scout Tony Coton monitored Margetson's progress in the Cymru Premier; the club stated, 'Everyone at United would like to welcome Kit to the club and wish him the very best of luck for the future.
