A 23-year-old woman was beaten by her abusive partner for many years. The man repeatedly abused the woman, not only verbally but also physically, who wrote down in her phone disguised as a shopping list what her friend had done to her. After some time, the woman could no longer stand the abusive relationship and committed suicide.

Kiena Dawes blamed her death on her abusive partner, who had been abusing her for years, in a suicide note. A jury found the 30-year-old guilty of several criminal charges but acquitted him of murder. He was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for restricting and controlling her life and violent attacks.
