On Friday, June 6, 2025, the Ecuadorian police discovered four corpses in a cistern located in the district of Nueva Prosperina, northwest of Guayaquil. Among the victims was a merchant of Asian origin, kidnapped on May 29 in the Martha neighborhood of Roldós. The other three deceased were men, too.
