The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has imposed a fine of 3 billion won on six paper manufacturers and filed criminal charges against two corporations for colluding in bids for printing paper used in monthly magazines and calendars. On the 9th, the FTC announced that it was issuing corrective orders and imposing a total fine of 3.009 billion won on the six printing paper manufacturers and sellers for their collusive practices. The Fair Trade Commission has imposed a fine of 3.009 billion won on six paper manufacturers for colluding in a bid commissioned by Nongmin Shinmun. The companies restricted competition by agreeing in advance on the winning bid price and the designated bidder; this marks the second instance of unfair practices by the same operators, following the printing paper price-fixing case in April of this year.
The fact that major paper companies, which have virtually monopolized the domestic printing paper supply market, have colluded for years on the winning bidder and bid price in large-scale printing paper purchase bids commissioned by the Farmers' Newspaper.
