- On Oct 2, two Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, were reportedly seized by four armed men believed to be security officials at a Kireka petrol station and driven to an unknown destination.
- They had been in Uganda since September 29 and were campaigning with National Unity Platform across Buyende District and Kamuli District after leaving Kenya on Monday.
- A witness said at around 3pm a grey van arrived, armed men emerged, forced the activists inside, and a travelling companion was briefly detained then released as their phones went off.
- Rights groups and Kenyan leaders called for regional pressure while Ugandan and Kenyan authorities had no official comment on the activists' disappearance.
- The incident echoes past regional abductions and Njagi’s repeat disappearance last year underscores risks to activists as Bobi Wine campaigns ahead of next year's presidential election.
