Kennedy family pays tribute to Kyle Kennedy after her death at 42
Rory and Kerry Kennedy said Kyle Kennedy was a devoted mother and educator who later advocated for people with disabilities after a 2020 spinal cord injury.
On Oct 21, Rory Kennedy and Kerry Kennedy remembered their niece Kyle Francis Kennedy, who died at 42 in Westwood, Massachusetts, describing the educator as a 'bright light' and 'funny and fierce' spirit.
Funeral services for Kyle were held privately, and the family has not publicly disclosed the cause of her death. She is survived by her sons, Conor and Declan, and her mother, Vicki Gifford Kennedy.
Despite a 2020 spinal cord injury causing long-term paralysis, Kennedy maintained her career in Education. Her obituary noted she 'fought to maintain her dry wit and determination through it all,' caring for her two Wheaten dogs.
Her passing follows earlier family losses, including the 1997 skiing death of her father, Michael Kennedy, and the loss of her infant daughter, Josephine. These events reflect a recurring pattern of loss.
Kennedy's life and death occur within a family history marked by high-profile events, including the 1968 assassination of her grandfather, Robert Kennedy, and the 1963 assassination of her great uncle, President John Kennedy.
