U.S. Embassy Accuses Canadian Politicians of Interfering in American Elections
The U.S. Embassy in Canada released quotes from Canadian politicians that it said showed “plans to influence American politics.”
Industry Minister Melanie Joly appeared five times in the embassy’s list, including comments about pressuring U.S. businesses and targeting U.S. states.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he had no interest in interfering in American elections.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said the United States initiated the trade actions and that Canada’s response aimed to protect Canadian workers and families.
The Trump administration, through its embassy in Ottawa, accuses Carney government ministers of ingesting in the November 3 mid-term elections in the United States to favour democratic candidates, a charge that Prime Minister Mark Carney rejects from the back of his hand.
