Kelowna man pleads guilty to arson on Knox Mountain
Robert Teal admitted to lighting fires and assaulting a peace officer after witnesses reported a man targeting workers and equipment near the mountain base.
On Friday, July 10, Robert Teal pleaded guilty in Kelowna Provincial Court to one count of arson causing property damage and one count of assault related to a Knox Mountain fire.
Before his arrest on October 24, 2025, construction workers reported Teal targeting staff and equipment near the base of Knox Mountain, prompting police charges.
The Kelowna Fire Department extinguished the blaze at approximately 3:30 p.m. when crews arrived. Teal has remained in custody since his arrest.
Teal's guilty plea to arson causing property damage stands alongside his admission to the lesser charge of assaulting a peace officer, concluding the court proceedings phase.
Sentencing for Teal is scheduled for August 10, determining the legal consequences for the Knox Mountain fire and assault conviction.
