Kazakhstan Court Orders Restrictions on Coinbase, BingX and Four Others
AFSA said 20 platforms were warned in 2025, and nine others voluntarily restricted app access before the court narrowed the order to six.
- On Tuesday, the Astana International Financial Centre Court issued injunctions against six cryptocurrency platforms, including Coinbase and BingX, prohibiting unlicensed digital-asset services within the center.
- The Astana Financial Services Authority initiated enforcement after issuing written warnings to more than 20 cryptocurrency companies in 2025, followed by court proceedings in early 2026 when operators failed to comply.
- Alongside the service prohibitions, the court order binds Google and Apple as app-store operators, with AFSA preparing to send documents to both companies to enforce geographic access restrictions on the platforms.
- These restrictions apply only to the AIFC rather than nationwide, though AFSA CEO Evgeniya Bogdanova noted users of unlicensed platforms lack critical safeguards including asset protection and dispute resolution.
- Earlier enforcement efforts saw nine platforms voluntarily restrict app access while seven indicated intent to seek licenses; AFSA continues collaborating with the National Bank of Kazakhstan to address ongoing unauthorized digital-asset activity.
