Former Chancellor Karl Nehammer Becomes Vice-President of the European Investment Bank

Former Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) has been officially appointed as the new Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB). He will take up his post on September 1, 2025, succeeding Swedish Vice-President Thomas Östros. The appointment was made following a decision by the finance ministers of the 27 EU member states, who represent the EIB's shareholders, on the recommendation of Austria.
