KARL HELE: Twin Saults treated to rare spectacle at war’s end

In 1919 the Twin Saults were treated to a double spectacle when a U.S. Army Renault FT tank and a captured German submarine visited. Both events, the tank in April and the U-boat in July, were designed to celebrate victory over Germany, raise war victory funds, and demonstrate advanced military might. Citizens of the U.S. and Canadian Saults were able to visit both attractions.
