Fire at Karachi's Millennium Mall Brought Under Control

KARACHI, JUN 18 – Fire damaged over 500 shops at Millennium Mall due to electrical short circuit and lack of fire safety systems, officials said, prompting a formal inquiry and city-wide safety inspections.

A major fire that broke out early Wednesday at Millennium Mall on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi was brought under control after more than four hours, officials said. The fire started on the roof of the building and spread to the fourth and third floors, which house garment shops, according to Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan.
