- On Monday, FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi announced the detention of four officers who allegedly extorted N53,000 from Musa Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission .
- Sanusi stated the officers abandoned their duty posts to mount an illegal checkpoint in the Banex area of Wuse, where they unknowingly targeted Aliyu and forced him to withdraw funds via a Point of Sale operator.
- Labeling the suspects as "thieves," the Commissioner vowed severe punishment, stating, "Those who need to be sacked will be sacked." He emphasized that officers must choose between being police or criminals.
- The FCT Police Command reiterated that personnel are prohibited from searching residents' phones during road stops, particularly when suspecting individuals of being "yahoo yahoo," unless a proper arrest occurs.
- Sanusi urged residents to report police misconduct to the command, promising to track down and prosecute criminal elements and warning that silence out of fear only enables further intimidation.
