National Airport halting operations for much of July 4
Airport officials said runway and airspace closures for July 4 fireworks and rehearsals could delay flights around several America 250 events this summer.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will close to airline traffic after noon on July 4 due to aerial rehearsals, performances, and fireworks in Washington, D.C.
The closures are part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the country's founding, which includes a July 4 rally on the National Mall featuring military bands and ceremonial units.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority advised ticketed passengers to monitor flight adjustments during the America 250 celebrations and consult with airlines for specific scheduling.
