A jury returned a partial verdict Tuesday in the child sex abuse trial of a former third-grade teacher in Anne Arundel County. Matthew Schlegel, 45, was arrested and charged in May 2024 with dozens of counts of child sex abuse and assault involving third-grade students at Severna Park Elementary School.
