The temperature in mainland Spain in July equaled the hottest month since measurements began in 1961, the Spanish meteorological agency AEMET said on Monday, but the heat fueled the largest wildfires in the country's recent history.
The month of July was extremely warm and had an average temperature in Peninsular Spain of 25.7°C. This represents 2.6°C more than the normal average.
