Acer's and Asus's use of HEVC on their laptops and desktop PCs is allegedly infringing on Nokia's patent. Because of this, a German court ruled that they cannot sell their products in Germany until the matter is settled.
Due to a patent dispute with Nokia, ASUS and Acer are currently not allowed to sell laptops and PCs in Germany.
A ruling by the Munich Regional Court I has direct consequences for German consumers. Because Acer and probably Asus have stopped selling laptops and PCs via their German shops. Reason is a patent dispute with Nokia about video coding. (Continue reading)
