Judge says province made significant errors in approving controversial gravel mine near Summerland

In the District of Summerland, local First Nations, environmental groups and hundreds of residents and businesses banded together to oppose a provincial permit to mine in a hillside within the picturesque Garnet Valley in the B.C. Interior. On Thursday, a judge found the province failed to follow procedure in permitting the project.
