JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon Warns Of Rogue AI Agents, Urges Customers To Understand Risks
On Tuesday, JPMorgan Chase CEO Dimon announced the bank will block outside artificial intelligence agents from accessing customer accounts, citing risks to clients and the institution.
Following the popularity of Meta's Muse, autonomous agents have gained mainstream traction, sparking concerns that consumers could use them to move funds from low-yielding to higher-yielding accounts.
CFO Jeremy Barnum confirmed the bank is actively blocking access where possible, noting that if customers provide credentials to agents, they risk responsibility for unwanted actions.
JPMorgan Chase customers should not expect personal AI agents to access their accounts anytime soon, though the bank began a pilot for its own tool, Smart Cash, to maximize yield.
While blocking external agents, Barnum said the bank works to 'have parity' with fintech companies, positioning JPMorgan to balance security concerns with competitive innovation in autonomous tools.
