Jon Stewart to Stay at ‘The Daily Show’ Through the 2028 Election
The comedian will remain Monday-night host and executive producer as a rotating cast covers the other weeknights.
On Monday, Oct. 19, Skydance Corporation announced that Jon Stewart will continue hosting and executive producing 'The Daily Show' through December 2028, securing his position through the November 2028 election.
The announcement resolves speculation regarding Stewart's future following the recent $110 billion merger between Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, as observers had questioned whether the new conglomerate would retain the host, known for his criticism of Trump.
Stewart will continue his Monday night hosting duties, while correspondents Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic rotate hosting the Tuesday-Thursday episodes, with Jen Flanz serving as showrunner.
'The Daily Show' recorded its highest third-quarter viewership in eight years with more than 1 million viewers, following a strong year that included winning two Emmy Awards in 2026.
Stewart's extension comes amid broader industry instability, including the cancellation of 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' last year, signaling Skydance's commitment to maintaining the influential late-night franchise within its portfolio.
