Johnson & Johnson To Build $1 Billion Campus In Montco

The $1 billion investment will create over 500 permanent biomanufacturing jobs and 4,000 construction jobs, supporting therapies for cancer and neurological diseases, officials said.

  • On Wednesday, Gov. Josh Shapiro and state officials announced Johnson & Johnson will invest $1 billion to build a cell therapy manufacturing campus in Lower Gwynedd Township, Montgomery County.
  • The project aligns with Johnson & Johnson's strategy to support its $55 billion U.S. investment plan through early 2029, with the facility operated by Janssen Biotech in Pennsylvania.
  • Supported by state incentives, the project will generate 4,000 temporary construction jobs, retain 5,885 full-time jobs, and benefit from $12 million and $2 million in tax credits plus $15 million PA SITES and $10 million Pennsylvania First grants.
  • Johnson & Johnson's expansion positions the state to deepen its Pennsylvania presence with about $10 billion annual economic impact, support over 500 skilled biomanufacturing jobs, and build on its 10 Pennsylvania facilities.
  • Joaquin Duato added that `By uniting scientific excellence with state-of-the-art manufacturing and strategic investment, and by working collaboratively with our communities, we are delivering for patients and creating significant opportunities for workers and families`.
