- Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso compared striker Joao Pedro to Karim Benzema, praising the Brazilian's complete skillset. Alonso, who made 195 appearances alongside the Frenchman at Real Madrid, noted Pedro's intelligence and versatility.
- Pedro has been named the Premier League Player of the Month, becoming the first Chelsea player to win the award in almost two years. He remains the only senior striker in the Blues squad following summer departures.
