JLR says cyber cleanup to take additional week
Jaguar Land Rover's cyberattack caused nearly $327 million in losses so far, impacting 6,000 supplier jobs and threatening over 100,000 jobs globally, the company said.
- Jaguar Land Rover extended its production pause to September 24, 2025, after a cyberattack on September 1 forced a global IT shutdown and halted UK sites.
- Following the breach, a group calling itself Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters claimed responsibility, posting internal SAP screenshots on a Telegram channel and deploying ransomware exploiting an SAP software flaw.
- The shutdown, which began at the end of August, is costing Jaguar Land Rover about 5 million pounds daily, with no vehicles completed since the cyberattack.
- Suppliers say their cash flow has disappeared and some face possible bankruptcy, while Unite trade union and Labour MP Liam Byrne urge government support to protect around 6,000 affected jobs.
- The attack compounds weaker demand in China and Europe and delays to EV launches, while Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover has lowered its fiscal 2026 profit margin target to 5%-7% from 10%.
