JJ Watt signs a multi-year deal to stay as CBS' lead NFL analyst
Watt will stay with Jim Nantz on CBS's top NFL broadcast team after Tony Romo's departure, and he is set for Super Bowl 62.
CBS Sports signed J.J. Watt to a multi-year extension as lead NFL analyst on Thursday, maintaining him alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.
After a 12-year career with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, Watt joined CBS Sports in 2023 as a studio analyst before transitioning to the booth in 2025.
CBS announced on October 2 that Tony Romo would not return as lead analyst after the two sides "agreed to part ways" following his July 23 arrest in Wisconsin.
Sunday's game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens will feature the trio in the booth, with Nantz calling play-by-play and Wolfson reporting from the sideline.
David Berson, chairman of Skydance, praised Watt's "growth as a top-tier broadcaster" as CBS looks toward Super Bowl 62 in Atlanta in February 2028.
