Jesy Nelson: Former Little Mix star told twin baby daughters may never walk
- In an emotional Instagram video, Jesy Nelson announced in her video on Sunday that her twin daughters have SMA type one, the most severe form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
- During her pregnancy, Nelson experienced twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, underwent emergency surgery, spent 10 weeks in hospital, and gave birth prematurely at 31 weeks on May 15.
- At Great Ormond Street Hospital, clinicians told Nelson the girls would be disabled and never be able to walk, and treatment commenced for the twins, who are now on breathing machines.
- Now a full-time carer, Jesy Nelson said she felt she had to become a nurse within two weeks, adding `I am grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children` and calling the hospital her second home.
- A few months ago, Janice noticed reduced leg movement, GPs and health visitors reassured her, and after three to four months of appointments, Nelson said, `the girls have been diagnosed with SMA type one` with urgency due to life expectancy under two years.
