Argetina's Libertarian Government of President Jvier Milei Wednesday declared the Muslim Brotherhood chapters in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan as terrorist organizations, directly aligning the South American country with the White House's 'Western Civilization' drive to lead a similar designation process late last year.
They are the chapters of Egypt, the most important; of Jordan; and of Lebanon.They point to "unlawful activities of a transnational character" and "public calls to violent extremism", with possible impact on Argentina. The United States had done so just a day earlier.
SANTIAGO (AP) — The government of Argentine President Javier Milei declared three branches of the Middle East Muslim Brotherhood, based in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt, as terrorist organizations on Wednesday, a day after the United States announced the same measure. The decision stems from Argentina's "international commitments" to intensify the "fight against terrorism and its financing," the President's Office said in a statement.
Since the inauguration of Javier Milei, Argentina has declared Islamist organizations, drug gangs and criminal structures with a regional and global presence as terrorists. Read more
