The 1st Airborne Brigade of the Japan Self-Defense Forces held its first training exercise of the new year at the Narashino Air Base in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, on Sunday. The event was attended by Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi. During the event, the minister and soldiers practiced parachuting from an 11-meter-high tower. “It was really amazing,” Koizumi told reporters after parachuting.
