Janklow rail prophecy materializing in South Dakota decades later

PIERRE — A dormant state-owned rail line in southeast South Dakota could soon return to service, as transportation officials review competing proposals to rehabilitate and operate the Napa-to-Platte corridor.The future of the 74-mile Napa-Platte line will be decided later this winter, after the South Dakota State Rail Board finishes vetting four proposals submitted by private rail operators interested in reviving the long-idled route.
