Janel Grant Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon Moves to Arbitration

Grant’s civil claims against WWE and Vince McMahon will move to confidential arbitration, and the court case will be dismissed with prejudice.

  • Janel Grant, World Wrestling Entertainment, LLC , and Vincent K. McMahon agreed to resolve their ongoing lawsuit through private arbitration, according to a joint status report filed with the United States District Court.
  • Filed in January 2024, the lawsuit alleged McMahon lured Grant with career advancement promises before sexually abusing and trafficking her, while also challenging a 2022 nondisclosure agreement.
  • Grant's attorneys argued the nondisclosure agreement was void because it was signed under duress and in furtherance of crimes, claiming she received only $1 million of a promised $3 million payment.
  • Pursuant to the agreement, the parties will file a voluntary dismissal within five business days, moving the dispute into a confidential arbitration process where claims may still be pursued.
  • Although the dispute is moving out of public court, Grant has increased her Instagram presence this year to support sexual assault victims and focus on the justice process.
