James L. B. White, one of Winchester's master builders

James L. B. White (1858-1934) was born in Clintonville, the son of Sylvester and Nora Ann White, natives of Dublin, Ireland. As young men, James and his brother William learned the building trade while working for their father, who was a stone mason.
