Jacksonville Jaguars Make Ross Matiscik New Highest-Paid Long Snapper
Ross Matiscik’s extension is worth $3.8 million in new money, and the Jaguars say his coverage skills help set him apart on special teams.
- On Wednesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed long snapper Ross Matiscik to a two-year contract extension worth $3.8 million, making him the NFL's highest-paid player at his position.
- Entering his sixth season with Jacksonville, the 29-year-old Matiscik joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor in 2020 and has appeared in 101 games.
- Matiscik has recorded 22 special teams tackles, tied for the most in the NFL at his position, and earned three Pro Bowl nods and two first-team All-Pro honors over three seasons.
- "Consistency and ability to get down the field and make plays on special teams gives us an edge in that phase of the game," Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone said.
- The deal replaces his previous contract's final year, which was set to pay $1.2 million in 2026, and will not impact the Jaguars' salary cap space in 2026 or 2027.
