Jack Wilshere named new Luton manager

On Monday, Luton Town FC confirmed Jack Wilshere as Matt Bloomfield's successor in his first permanent senior managerial role.
Following back-to-back relegations, Luton Town FC dismissed Matt Bloomfield after a 2-0 home defeat to Stevenage left the Hatters 11th in League One with five wins from 11 games.
Having retired in 2022, Jack Wilshere coached Arsenal Under-18s before joining Norwich City as first-team and interim head coach, overseeing a draw and a 4-2 win in two games.
Chris Powell will join as Wilshere's assistant after leaving Walsall, and Wilshere's managerial debut is scheduled for Saturday at Kenilworth Road against Mansfield Town.
The club expect Wilshere to help Luton challenge for immediate promotion back to the Championship, and Gary Sweet praised his passion and modern approach after selecting him over Richie Wellens.
