The FR-Alert system will be activated in Antibes for a chikungunya alert. With 103 cases out of 140 in the Alpes-Maritimes, the authorities aim to raise awareness among the 11,000 inhabitants.
A text message will be sent at 10 a.m. this Wednesday morning to the inhabitants of Antibes reminding them of the safety instructions for chikungunya, a virus transmitted by the Tigre mosquito.
Chikungunya, an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes, affects more and more people in the French metropolis. According to health scientists and experts, the spread of the virus is not ready to stop and cases are expected to multiply in the coming years.
On Wednesday 24 September at 10am, 11,000 inhabitants of Antibes will receive this message "FR Alert" by SMS on their mobile phones, "SANITARY ALERT case of chikungunya in Antibes: protect yourself from mosquito bites". It is an exceptional security device launched by the prefecture.
