ITV News Goes Off-Air as Granada Reports Hit by Technical Issues
ITV said technical problems disrupted regional bulletins across the UK, and many viewers saw blank screens or frozen logos before service returned.
On Monday, ITV regional news programmes abruptly vanished from air across the country, leaving viewers met with blank screens and static logos instead of scheduled bulletins.
ITV confirmed technical problems caused the disruption, issuing an apology on social media stating the broadcaster was "working hard to fix the issues." Both North and South programmes would be available on ITVX shortly.
Knock-On scheduling issues caused programmes to start late or remain partially cut. Frustrated viewers flooded social media asking, "Anyone know why ITV news is off air?" as the outage persisted for 20 minutes.
Service has since been restored for many viewers across Meridian Region and beyond. As the situation stabilized, attention shifted to the 9pm premiere of the all-stars edition of I'm A Celebrity.
This technical fault followed recent reports that the iconic CITV brand is shutting down for good after 42 years, with its final broadcast on ITV2 scheduled for April 10.
